Re-Vamp Your Evening Routine
We all know that it can be stressful and at times even dreadful getting up early to squeeze in that a.m. workout, no matter if you’re into yoga, interval training, cycling, or even a brisk morning walk. Here are some suggestions to nail down a routine that will simplify your pre-workout prep time, and keep your motivation and energy running high all day, every day.
Common Brown Bag Lunch Blunders
First, don’t pack lunch for a rabbit. Seriously. Instead of the usual iceberg salad with bacon bits, topped with cheese and croutons, try a piece of pan-seared salmon on top of a bed of baby spinach with cherry tomatoes, 1/4 avocado, and some balsamic vinaigrette. Save time by throwing on a few pieces of extra salmon when preparing dinner the night before (or chicken, or steak). You will see that you can easily kill two birds with one stone- as you prep dinner, you prep the next day’s lunch as well!
Combat Hunger Pangs All Day Long!
Another tip is to throw a protein bar in your lunch bag so if you get the 2pm munchies, instead of trolling down to the vending machine, pull out a baked, high fiber protein bar. My favorite is MusclePharm’s Combat Crunch protein bars. Extremely low in sugar and carbs, these tasty treats come in a variety of flavors and have no chalky aftertaste. Avoid the Morning Scavenger Hunt
Avoid complete chaos in the wee hours of the morning by ramping up your workout prep the night before. It only takes a few minutes, and will help you save time , and wake up with a get-up-and-go mentality. Lay out your workout clothes from sport bra to socks & shoes. Then when that alarm goes off, you can easily slip into your outfit and get movin’ and groovin’! One tip that I have found extremely helpful is to plug in my gear (Bluetooth headphones & smartphone containing my fav playlists) the night before to be sure I am never caught running on low battery.
